HomeGirl – the app that accompanies you on your way home.
HomeGirl was created as a response to the daily struggles of women returning home alone, especially in the evening or at night. During such returns, many of them do not feel safe - they are exposed to teasing or so-called catcalling. What do we do then as girls? We often take out our phones and call our loved ones, to hear a friendly voice on the other side and feel at least a little more confident. But what if none of our loved ones can pick up then?
That's why HomeGirl was created - an app that connects two girls who are returning alone (anywhere in Poland) via voice call or chat, so they can keep each other company and "walk each other out" virtually. HomeGirl is driven by three female forces: SEXEDPL Foundation, IT Girls Foundation and Brain agency.
Because we know what it's like to come back alone
HomeGirl was created out of a real need – the anxiety that accompanies women when they return home alone. Calling loved ones, pretending to talk, quick steps and checking if someone is following us – these are situations that we know from everyday life. It was these experiences that inspired us to create a tool that allows us to feel at least a little calmer, because on the other side there is someone who understands.
"HomeGirl is our response to the everyday anxiety that accompanies women returning home alone. We built it based on women's experiences - because we experience it ourselves. It is important to emphasize that this is not a rescue system. It will not replace the services. It is a form of emotional and social support. The app gives you a real sense that you are not alone - someone on the other side is listening to you."
– Wiola Klimczak, CEO & Co-Founder of the IT Girls Foundation

How does HomeGirl work?
HomeGirl is an easy-to-use app that allows you to:
- a real-time connection with another woman – a voice conversation or chat with someone who is also just getting home, or maybe sitting on the couch and just wants to help,
- a map of dangerous places – containing points where users could feel uncomfortable,
- minimum verification – one-time identity confirmation via mObywatel or eDO App (without saving data),
- SOS button – enabling a quick connection to the emergency number 112.
Partnership with a mission – technology from UniqSoft
The company is responsible for creating HomeGirl from a technological perspective. UniqSoft, who from the beginning treated this project as something more than an assignment. It was a collaboration between the girls from the IT Girls Foundation and the UniqSoft team, who consulted on solutions and supported us with knowledge, thanks to which HomeGirl could become an intuitive, safe tool.
"We knew from the beginning that it was worth getting involved in the implementation of HomeGirl. In creating IT projects, the most important thing is the value that is achieved at the end. Most often, it is the implementation of business goals. However, HomeGirl is about something more. This is the moment when software can be part of a real change, increasing the safety of women."
– Adrian Iwanek, CEO of UniqSoft

Security and privacy – a priority from the start
At HomeGirl, we do not save conversations or locations. The app only works when you are active and agree to the connection. Identity verification is only for the safety of users and thanks to our technology partner – Authologic – is completely safe. Nothing is stored or analyzed.
Social campaign: HomeGirl on the streets and in the media
The launch of the app was accompanied by a nationwide information and education campaign. Our goal was to reach women where they feel most vulnerable – in public spaces. The campaign included:
- Multikino – spot as part of the “Cinema on Heels” series in 23 cinemas across Poland.
- Outdoor – posters and animations at bus stops, screens and city media.
- Public transport – posters in the Warsaw metro, buses, trams and SKM.
What's next?
HomeGirl is a project that will develop together with its users. We collect opinions, conduct tests, listen – and we want to introduce new features according to the needs of the community. In the coming months, we plan to:
- new application updates,
- further educational and social activities,
- media publications.
You are not alone - HomeGirl is with you
HomeGirl is more than an app. It is a tool that empowers women when they are home alone. It is a digital community built around the ideas of sisterhood, compassion, and mindfulness.
If you're going home alone today - just turn on HomeGirl. Maybe someone else needs some company. And you can be the one to give it to them.
